Fall is always about change. This fall is about celebrating the changes that took place all last year.  Last year I moved out of my beloved New York City and renovated an old farmhouse in Westport, CT. I have designed many things in my career but never an interior space. It was one of the most creative times in my life.  While renovating the house, I designed MAMA NYC’s Fall 2013 collection. The house and the collection share a color palette and a more casual attitude. It made sense to shoot the fall 2013 look book at the house. My good friend, Poul Ober, came out to shoot and the results are beautiful. Enjoy!

I was 8 months pregnant and developing MAMA NYC’s first collection. See me with model below to right.

The inspiration was researched, the patterns were perfectly cut, and the samples were delicately tailored but MAMA needed some outstanding photography to complete the vision.

I began searching for a young Mia Farrow-type like in Rosemary’s Baby- sans the devil child. I found Maddy with Ford Models in Toronto. She and I {with my mom} traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my good friend and amazing photographer, Nichole Sloan. We had an incredible day together- Nichole, her team, and fantastic husband, Michael. We gave maternity an edge it had not seen before. Then we added a few of my son’s toys for a dash of humor. See alligator with model below to left.

The images are odd, beautiful and so MAMA. I love that I was pregnant while creating them and starting MAMA NYC. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you are pregnant. Go for it ladies!
